Our Ambassador

We are privileged to have the Federal MP for Berowra, Julian Leeser as our Mentoring Men Ambassador. Julian said he is honoured to be an Ambassador for Mentoring Men.

“I am concerned by recently released data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), showing that the national suicide rate increased by 9.1 per cent over 12 months”.

“We know social isolation is a contributor to poor mental health, particularly for men. That’s why programs such as the Mentoring Men program are so important. Having a structured program focussed on goal-setting and personal development will help build confidence and self-esteem. The combination of mentoring and mateship is a powerful mechanism to engage and support men through some of life’s challenges”.


Ian Westmoreland

Founder and Chairman

Ian worked for 40 years in the Australian and New Zealand utilities industries in various IT roles, mostly as an IT development and support manager. On 10 September 2013, he experienced a life changing moment that ultimately led to his decision to retire from paid work in May 2014 and commence a volunteer mentoring career with the Raise Foundation, Kidshope and COACH.

Ian has been married to his gorgeous wife Helen for 37 years and they have four children and 11 grandchildren.

Ian is a keen sportsman who enjoys his tennis and golf and also enjoys going for a swim and bike rides with Helen.

Aaron Harvey


Aaron is currently the Managing Director for an Australian subsidiary of a Global Medical Devices company. His role encompasses many duties, however one of his passions is to work with his staff in developing their professional skills and provide better awareness of the need for a healthy work-life balance.

Aaron’s experience in realising the importance of mentoring started a number of years ago when he recognised there was no-one he could connect with to share personal challenges he was facing. After finding a mentor, Aaron became more deeply connected with himself and the people he cared about most and now leads what he considers an extremely fulfilled life.

Aaron is a strong advocate for everyone, at any stage of life, to have a mentor.

Outside of mentoring, Aaron enjoys spending time with his family (wife and two children) in any sort of outdoor activities.

Dieter Monch


Dieter is originally from Berlin, Germany, he has travelled extensively and lived and worked in many countries until he settled in Australia. He has a sales/marketing background in the IT industry and been a CEO for over 40 years with private and public companies. Dieter is now retired after he sold his own business.

Dieter started mentoring CEO’s and senior management while still being employed as a Managing Director in the IT industry. After his retirement he became involved in further mentoring of Adolescents in the Juvenile Justice system and High School children. Dieter believes strongly in the power and effectiveness of one-on-one mentoring programs.

Dieter is a committed family man, married with 3 children and 7 grandchildren. He is an avid golfer, enjoys travelling and follows most sports especially the “round ball game” in England and Germany.

Lindsey Walker


With over 20 years senior leadership experience and eight years program design and implementation in a not for profit environment, Lindsey has a broad background with strong business acumen, consulting, expertise in social enterprise, human resources, counselling and training.

Her leadership style is both motivational and warm, with a fluid approach of working and supporting people. She loves working with organisations and individuals to help them flourish and building strong and results-based relationships, as well as being creative and constantly innovative within their own lives and work. She is an exceptionally passionate and committed individual, who excels in the creation and execution of strategic initiatives for the betterment of the community, individuals and corporate responsibility programs. She loves working with likeminded people who strive to make a difference in our communities and thrives on leading and developing people and teams.

Lindsey has joined the Mentoring Men Board to work with the team to support the growth or the organisation and our programs, as well as the sustainability and impact that mentoring will have on men in.
